When your Leaf loses range when climbing, but gains it back on the downside, the likely problem is a weak battery module. If allowed to persist long enough you Leaf will eventually develop a voltage leak and your Leaf will not start.
This is a common problem with 2011-2012 Leafs. First, check that your home charger is functioning properly. If all seems in order with your charger, the problem is likely the On-Board Charger. These can be replaced (sometimes they can be repaired), and your Leaf will function properly again.
More than likely the wheel hub needs to be removed, cleaned, and lubricated.
Here’s the solution that worked for me and others…put the car in drive and then press the brake pedal right down to the floor and hold it there for 30 seconds. Mine is a 2014 and has this issue periodically. You can also try the same thing in neutral if that doesn’t resolve it. an answer to this item.
