-2012
First Gen (ZE0) – This 24kWh battery provided a range of about 73 miles. 10 years later most of these batteries have lost significant capacity.
-2016 (AZE0-0) – This improved 24kwh battery offered increased range of about 85 miles. Improved chemistry has lead to longer battery life as well, with some well cared of examples still showing 12 bars of health.
-2017 (AZE0-1) – A new 30kWh battery came in models with the letter "B" at the fourth spot of the VIN. If you own one of these, you may be eligible for a free replacement from Nissan.
-Now (ZE1) - Significant improvements in this battery make it a desirable choice for replacement into an existing Leaf. Nissan is claiming this battery will last 22 years, and while we can neither confirm nor deny this claim, we have seen multiple examples of this generation battery that still have well over 80% State of Health with nearly 100K miles on them.
